Mewar

Mewar Kingdom(Udaipur state) was a Rajput kingdom.

The state of Mewar was founded around 530;

It was located in the southern Rajasthan and some parts of Gujara, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.

It was a princely state in India at the time of the British Raj.

Moris Dynasty ruled Mewar upto 734 AD.

Chittorgarh fort have been built by Chitranganda Mori.

He built Chittor Fort about 7th century, Chitrakoot (chittor) was named after him.

Mori was the last Mori ruler of Chittor.

Later Guhilots(734-1303 AD), Parihars, Sisodias(1326-1949 AD) ruled Mewar.

Bappa Rawal(Guhilot dynasty) seized Chittor garh (Chittor fort) from a ruler of the Mori dynasty, and made it his capital in 734 AD. Chittaurgarh(Chittor) was the former capital of Sisodia clans of Rajputs of Mewar.

Maharana Udai Singh of the Sisodia clan of Rajputs founded the Udaipur city in 1559 AD and shifted his capital from the city of Chittorgarh to Udaipur.

Udaipur is known as the city of lakes.
