Sisodia Dynasty
The Sisodias were a Rajput clan from India.
They are Chattari Rajputs of the Suryavanshi lineage, and ruled over the kingdom of Mewar in Rajasthan.
The ruling Guhilot clan displaced from Mewar due to the invasion by the Delhi Sultanate.
Rana Hammir or Hammira, (1314-78) was the founder of Sisodia dynasty. He regained control of the region, re-established the dynasty.
He was the first of his dynasty to use the royal title `Rana`.
Sisodia clan was a branch of the Guhilot clan.
Prior to Rana Hamir Sisodia clan was known as Gehlot or Guhilot.
Chitaurgarh(Chittor) was a former capital of the Sisodia Dynasty of Mewar.
The Chittorgarh Fort was constructed by the Mauryans in the 7th century AD. There is also a belief that it was constructed by Bhima of the Pancha Pandavas.
Maharana Udai Singh founded the Udaipur city in 1559 AD and shifted his capital from Chittorgarh to Udaipur.
Rana Kumbha was prominent ruler in Sisodia dynasty.
